I apologize for the lack of updates on this site for the past few days, the holidays really caught up with me! I was on the road for several days, visiting my friends, my family, my girlfriend's family - so I had very little (if any) time at a computer each day. It was just as well - I was running out of submissions anyway! I'm not sure if this will be the final post on this site for the year, it really depends on what other submissions come in during the next few days, but either way I'd like to take this opportunity to tell everyone who visited, submitted, or commented THANK YOU. This was something I've wanted to do for years, and this first year was somewhat of a learning experience for me. All of your help has made it a great success, and you can rest assured it will be back again next year, and better then ever. I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday, and continues to as we forge on into the new year.

Jake, my son, is almost 3. This is the first tree we've dared to have at home since he was born - between him, a mostly blind cat, and an annual Christmas party, it's always been too dangerous. This year we decided to give it a shot. Tonight Jake and my wife are decorating their first tree together. He's a natural.

As far as the lights in the wine bottle, I've seen that done many times, though usually in a mason jar or some other glass recepticle. I recently saw some wine bottles with lights at a craft fair which is what gave me the idea.

Yes, my house is old (c. 1800) and falling apart at the seams, but there's
nothing like pine roping, twinkle lights and red bows to give it what a real
estate agent might call "charm."
Every year, my Dad comes for a long visit in early December and we dress up
the house for Christmas. He really gets into the decorating and we have a
great time together.
We tend to change things around from year to year to see what works best.
This year I wanted the front porch to look the same as last year, so I
sketched it out on paper to remind my Dad what it looked like.
He vehemently insisted that we didn't decorate like that last year and we
spent several days bantering about it. So this year I took a picture as
proof!
Merry Christmas!

Caption: Found while walking home from the Meatpacking District over the weekend, I love the randomness of this simple string of lights wrapped around the traffic light pole on the corner of Gansevoort and Hudson. No hint of who did this, or how it got there. The white sticks add a nice winter touch.Justin's Notes:Thank's for another great image Devyn...the exposure here is fantastic. There's nothing like walking through New York at Christmas time.

Recent freezing rain storms left everything with a layer of ice. Though a nightmare to drive in, I loved the sparkle it left and how everything looked almost frozen in time.

This is probably my favorite winter image ever. It was taken 2 years ago, at my girlfriends house in Pennsylvania. The dog featured here is Rufus the black lab. I've never really had much luck getting good exposures out in the snow, which may be why I like this image so much - shooting something black against the white snow was particularly challenging.

None provided.Justin's NotesI'm particularly partial to this shot because of my love for candy canes! As a child, I actually didn't like candy canes, but in the last few years I've really grown to love them - especially flavored candy canes.

This was shot on Dec. 1st in Peddler's Village in Lahaska PA. Peddler's Village is a beautiful, touristy, shopping village in Buck's County. Throughout the year the shops, landscape, and gardens are gorgeous but at Christmas it is just magical. This place screams Christmas and they really know how to do up the shopping village experience right for the Holidays complete with thousands of lights, street performers like magicians and musicians, hot spiced cider cooked in a giant cast iron pots over a wood fire, lots of food carts with delicious treats, charming shops that are filled to the brim with a wide variety of wonderful treasures for everyone, and of course restaurants, coffee shops, and a pub or two to duck into and warm up with a little Holiday cheer and have a bite to eat. This is a photo of one of the baubles on one of the hundreds of decorated pines that can be found dotting the landscape there.
